Unlike traditional drinker nipples, these horizontally mounted nipples are spring loaded so that they work without a gravitational pull
The action of the birds pecking wobbles the spring, which releases drops of water either into the birds beak or collects into the moulded drip guard beneath the nipple
The advantage of side-mounted drinking nipples is that the drinker can be placed on the ground or on a flat surface for cleaning and refilling etc
