Acto Agriculture NZ Ltd is a privately owned family business and has been operating since 1972 as a manufacturer, importer, exporter and wholesaler of agricultural products. We are the proud New Zealand home of Lister Shearing & Clipping Equipment. We mainly specialise in “fibre removal equipment” including sheep shearing, horse, cattle, deer, alpaca & dog clipping equipment & general farm and related accessories.

In our first 26 years of business, we manufactured Lister Shearing and Dagging machines and grinders for New Zealand and Australia which were sold through the then named Lister Petter. In 1985 we also purchased HC Zank Shearing Supplies which was a manufacturer of shearer’s accessories and predominantly a mail order company, and ran our 2 companies side by side with Acto Engineering as the engineering arm and the renamed NZ Shearing Supplies. Since then we have expanded our manufacturing and distribution operation and now function under the one umbrella as Acto Agriculture NZ Ltd to distribute our products through the following:
  • Farm Merchandise Stores (including the major firms and independent merchants),
  • Veterinary Clinics,
  • Equestrian & Saddlery Outlets,
  • Individual Service Agents,
  • Dairy Companies,
  • Grain & Seed Merchants 
  • Dog Groomers

We also export to Australia, England, Ireland, Wales, Falkland Islands, Spain,Canada, USA, France & Norway.
Acto operate out of a 25,000 sq’ building in Takanini with close access to motorway, airport and transport facilities. The building consists of offices, showroom, apparel division, warehouse and packing, engineering & assembly division, servicing area and a smaller manufacturing and decanting area.

We service our immediate local area from our Takanini premises and use Service Agents throughout the rest of the country whom we supply with spare parts. We are heavily involved in shearing competitions and speed shears and extensively travel the country during the shearing season with judging and running computerised competition timing systems.
