Rectangular galvanised treadle-style hopper.
Chickens access the feeder by stepping on the front ramp. The weight of the bird opens the feeder door and allows the chicken to feed. 
The feeder is not suitable for use with turkeys, geese or similar animals.
 
The advantage of treadle feeders is that they assure the total inaccessibility of other animals such as birds or rodents from reaching the food and contaminating it. It guarantees the seal for birds and rodents of lower weight avoiding the contamination of diseases and wastage of food. It allows access to food only to birds of a certain weight and avoids the entry of unwanted animals.
